Aiden by Best Western
What began as Project Mästaren became a functional hotel next to Karlstad Arena. AB Gunnar Svensson developed floor plans, furniture layouts and the design of guestrooms, bathrooms and self check-in.

From Mästaren to Aiden
A hotel shaped around function
The brief was to create a hotel directly connected to the arena in Karlstad. Each room needed to use its space efficiently and offer a high number of beds without compromising a welcoming, considered hotel experience.
AB Gunnar Svensson took on the assignment from the ground up. We produced floor plans and furniture layouts and subsequently developed the interior design. The proposals were first presented as renderings, allowing function, proportions, colours and materials to be evaluated before production.
The guestrooms
More beds, intelligently planned
The room planning was based on guests’ actual needs. Fold-away beds and multifunctional furniture allow the same room to work for both smaller and larger parties.
Storage, surfaces, seating and sleeping areas were coordinated into a clear whole in which every square metre contributes to the stay.
- Design basis
- Floor plans and furniture layouts
- Objective
- High bed capacity, strong functionality and a coherent design

From image to reality
A design that could be tested in advance
The renderings became an important project tool. They showed how the floor plan, furniture and colour palette worked together before manufacturing and implementation.
The completed interior follows the original idea with soft pink tones, neutral joinery and flexible bed solutions. It is a clear example of digital design translated into reality.
- Our role
- Design, visualisation and detailed planning
- Result
- A consistent expression from rendering to completed room

The bathrooms
Straightforward function with clear details
The bathrooms were designed as an integral part of the guestrooms. Light tiles, an illuminated mirror and black details create a clean, easy-to-navigate setting.
Functions and installations were coordinated to create a durable, easy-to-maintain environment for the hotel’s varied guests.
- Scope
- Planning and design of the bathroom environment
- Focus
- Function, ease of use and durable operation

Self check-in
A simple first encounter with the hotel
The self check-in area was designed so guests immediately understand where and how to check in. A fixed counter gathers the terminals and functions, while signage, lighting and floor graphics guide visitors.
The expression reflects the hotel’s functional, uncomplicated concept and makes the entrance clear even when it is unstaffed.
- Environment
- Entrance and unstaffed check-in
- Our role
- Planning, design and detailed planning
